Changing Lives friend and loving grandmother “Gramma Carole” sent us this picture as she recently walked the hospital corridor with her beloved grandson as he struggles with the tremendous grip of addiction.
She discovered that this photo seems to show the glow of a guardian angel on his shoulder.
The words of this song now take on a whole new meaning.Â

What an inspiration and hope for others. Our son, Jerry, is now in Teen Challenge and we are praying that his life will truly be transformed though Christ. We will hope you up in our prayers and ask that you do the same for our son.

Could everyone please pray for Adam—a very special young man who is struggling with addiction and is out on the streets of the NW USA again, after walking out of treatment another time. His family is in deep pain as they give his life to the Lord.
And, Barbara I did buy the book, Running From Me, on Judy H’s recommendation. Tough reading but provides hope….just like the Herzanek book…Why Don’t They Just Quit? It doesn’t lessen the pain to know others are suffering, but it does help to know you are not “alone”.
Barbara, Adam’s Mom and I both so agree with what you said about being in the arms of God. Cindy and I have both prayed that God would bring peace to Adam’s troubled soul however that meant….If it meant we would have to grieve his loss so he could be “free” we trust in God. It’s not what we want…we want a miracle. We already got 1 when we found out he was in ICU and were able to see him before he went back onto the streets.
But I must tell you…it is Adam’s mom who is the most awesome person I know. If Adam is saved it will be because of our faith in God and her unwaivering love and tenacity in being the strongest person I have ever known in my life. It is an honor to be her Mom. Gramma Carole
This is a beautiful reminder that they don’t have to leave us…there are angels here to help and you are one of them is you , “Grandma Carole”. My thought and prayers are with you and your grandson and for all those suffering from this horrible gripping disease. I truly believe that prayer is the answer, with God’s help and the angels above that are here to help, it is possible. God Bless you both.

How lucky your grandson is to have you in his life. The total, unconditional love, support and belief in your grandson and his ability to get better is the biggest gift you could possible give him……good luck to you both! You are in my prayers!

This photo and poem is so awesome! I can totally relate with this picture, I just wish I could have been in Houston when David was clinging to life (the police told us he was shot twice and it WAS NOT life threatening) we were not allowed to visit him, they told us not to come, he was not allowed to have visitors and we would have made the trip for nothing. We were just so thankful he was alive.
When he left Mobile, Alabama we just knew he would not come back alive. We went to church nine days after he left and lit candles and prayed, a peace came over me and I knew he was going to be alright, I did not know whether that meant he would be in the arms of God or what. It turned out getting shot by the police the next day saved his life! He should not have survived that, he should not have survived the massive amount of morphine in his system and he should not have survived cutting his wrist to the bone and laying on the floor bleeding for hours.
